Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Watched: 01/09/2020
I was scared for this, truly. I saw Zoolander 2. I did not have high hopes for this one at all. It’s Bill and Ted 3, released nearly 30 years after the last one. It sounds like shit on paper.
But… it was… okay! It wasn’t a disaster! It was fine! I was actually pleasantly surprised, and dare I say I enjoyed myself for the (surprisingly short) 90 minute runtime.
Keanu Reeves looked dead inside for most of it, but that man has been through so much I can’t get mad at him. I’ve seen a few kinda recent Keanu movies, the last one being John Wick (which was a bit of a dump, really). Then before that… uhh… The Day the Earth Stood Still. 12 years is recent, right? It’s strange seeing Mr Action Star straight-faced Keanu Reeves in the role of Ted Theodore Logan, a goofball, of which no goofball qualities are provided in this film.
Also, the future is ugly. I prefer the future predicted in 1991, not the megacorp Apple store future (although that’s probably more realistic, providing the planet doesn’t fucking combust in the next 5 years…)
Would I watch this again? Hmm… probably not. I wouldn’t mind if it was on the telly at a friend’s house, but I’m not going to pick it up the same way I would Bill and Ted 1 or 2.
